Description:

Grand County is soliciting proposals from qualified HVAC contractors for the installation of central air conditioning (AC) into an existing forced air HVAC system at 1003 Eagle Ave, Kremmling, CO 80459. This location houses Emergency Medical Services and the County Coroner’s Office. The primary goal of this project is to provide effective climate control to maintain safe and functional working conditions, prevent excessive indoor temperatures, and ensure compliance with relevant building codes and standards.

A secondary goal of this project is to evaluate and implement opportunities to better align existing zones in the system(s) with the operational layout of the building.

The selected contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, and materials necessary to complete the installation of a central AC system that integrates with the existing HVAC system(s).

The scope of work includes but is not limited to:

  • Assessment and Design
    1. Conduct a site assessment of the existing HVAC system to determine the best approach for AC integration and zone alignment.
    2. Provide recommendations on AC capacity and system specifications to ensure adequate cooling.
    3. Submit a design proposal outlining the scope of the installation, equipment selection, and expected energy efficiency improvements.
  • Equipment and Materials
    1. Supply and install all necessary components, which may include but not limited to:
      • AC units (appropriate tonnage as determined in assessment)
      • Thermostats with programmable settings
      • Ductwork modifications (if needed)
      • Electrical upgrades (if required for AC system compatibility)
      • Insulation or dampers for efficiency improvements
    2. All equipment and materials must meet or exceed industry standards and comply with applicable codes.
  • Installation
    1. Remove and dispose of any obsolete or redundant HVAC components, if applicable.
    2. Install the AC units in accordance with the approved design and manufacturer recommendations.
    3. Integrate the new AC units with the existing HVAC system to ensure optimal performance.
    4. Conduct system balancing to ensure even cooling distribution.
    5. Test the entire system for functionality, efficiency, and compliance with specifications.
  • Training and Documentation
    1. Provide operational training to designated county personnel on system usage and maintenance.
    2. Submit documentation including:
      • Manufacturer warranties
      • As-built drawings and schematics
      • Maintenance recommendations
      • Final inspection and performance verification reports

Qualifications:
The selected contractor must:
o        Be a licensed HVAC contractor in the State of Colorado.
o        Have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in commercial HVAC installation.
o        Provide proof of insurance, including general liability and workers' compensation.
o        Protect all roofing, flashing, fascia and any other roof mounted equipment. Failure to effectively protect existing surfaces and systems will result in contractor being charged for their repair/replacement.
•        Contractor will be required to perform all testing and inspection services as required per law and to provide records of such results to customer.
•        All services shall be coordinated with Grand County prior to arrival to ensure the least disruption to regular business operations.
