RFP for Down Valley Park Ballfield Fence Imrpovement
Project Description
Location: 22855 HWY-145, Placerville CO 81430. Near mile marker 82 on Highway 145 Rough Dimensions of Overhang: 73’10” x 10’ at a 45 degree angle. Existing backstop is approximately 20’ high.
The San Miguel County Parks & Open Space Department is seeking qualified bidders to add an overhang to the already existing backstop at the ballfield at Down Valley Park, 22855 HWY-145, Placerville CO 81430. The project will include all preparations, procurement, installation, and clean up necessary to update the existing backstop.
The current backstop is roughly 20’ high by 73’10” wide. It is constructed with 1 5/8” galvanized pipe with 1 7/8” end caps and a variety of supporting hardware. The galvanized chain link is 2’ with 11-gauge wire. The current backstop is a chain link style. The chain link sections are supported by 9 x 4” round galvanized pipe. The intention is to prevent foul balls from exiting over the backstop and into the adjacent parking lot. The contractor must also provide all labor and materials necessary to complete the job. Baseball season begins in May and ideally, installation would occur in late April or early May, but no later than May 30

The Down Valley Park is maintained and operated by the San Miguel County Parks Division and is accessible to the public during operating hours. The park is home to multiple baseball and softball events such Little League games, adult softball games and a wood bat tournament sponsored by the Telluride Baseball Festival
Scope of Services
San Miguel County requests proposals include:

Designing a system that meets all parameters detailed above and in figure 4 below.

Procure all necessary components for the system, including galvanized tubing, hardware, brackets and chain link.

The chain link overhang shall be designed in a way, as to not allow baseballs to get trapped on top.

The contractor must provide all labor, equipment and installation. Protection of the surrounding turf and irrigation system is required, while using heavy equipment during installation. Durable mats or 3/4” plywood may be necessary to distribute weight of large equipment, such as a scissor lift.

All cleanup and hauling away of un-used materials must be handled by the contractor

A pre-bid, self-guided visit at the Down Valley Park is mandatory in order to respond to this RFP. Please contact Greg Pollio (see below) to schedule. Staff may not be available during your scheduled visit, but we will try to accommodate all requests.
