I. Introduction
The City of Craig invites qualified vendors to submit responses to this request for proposal
(RFP) for refurbishment of one, Model 300 Allis Chalmers centrifugal pump (pump motor
not included). The current seals are to be replaced with Chesterton 442 split mechanical
seals. Shipping and delivery prices should be included in the RFP. City staff will remove the
pump to be ready for packaging and truck shipment.
II. Project Background
The City of Craig is located in the Northwest corner of Colorado within Moffat County. The
population is approximately 9,000. The Wastewater Treatment Facility is located at 2301
West 1st Street, Craig, CO 81625. Background information on the City including the current
and past budgets can be found on the City’s website at www.ci.craig.co.us .
The pump included in this RFP moves raw sewage water from an influent wet well to an
aeration basin and usually operates around 5 psig. We have four pumps that perform this
function of which two are considered redundant. The equipment is refurbished on an
approximate 15- year cycle, however the pump in question was submerged in untreated
wastewater 6 years ago and lessened the life of pump components. Due to the unique
arrangement of the intake and discharge piping, it is difficult to find another pump that
would be a direct replacement without requiring a re-design of the piping.
III. Technical Requirements
A. Pump Galley
