Portage College
Portage College is calling for Mechanical Contractors to assist us with the completion of two (2) projects, for the Server Room Area:

A.        PRJ#2025-008 - HVAC Modification for Exhausting Heat.

        A method of exhausting heat from the Server Room, in the event of the Server Room Air Conditioning Units failure. A simple use of ducts (existing or new) and fans to remove the hot air for emergencies only.
        For the new emergency ducting, we request a system not requiring complexity, such as, 3 phase electrical or refrigeration. KEEP IT SIMPLE.
        This work must be completed prior to June 15, 2025.

B.        PRJ#2025-CMR – Server Room Air Conditioning & UPS Replacement.

        Removal of existing units, while maintaining AC in the Server Room. We expect to remove and replace one (1) unit as at time, not to interrupt the College’s Business. All IT servers must remain operational during this project, with as little dust as possible.
        Replace existing AC Units with Two (2) Vertiv PDX Air Cooled Server Room AC units, Model Number: PX018UA1BP034H or equivalent.
        Remove old condenser units and lift new condensers to roof and connect power connections. Include price for crane to lift units.
        Proper recovery of refrigerants.
        New Electrical and Ducting as required by the project (BMS by current vendor).
        Pressure test existing refrigerant lines, flush pipe to clean old oil out of system and fit to new units.
        Pressure test entire system, evacuate to 500 microns and field charge refrigerant into unit.
        Start-up of first system, once completed second unit will be taken down in same order and installed.
        Start-up of second unit and confirm drain condensate pumps are functioning,
        Add balancing dampers into duct work to balance airflow in room 80% front loaded 20% rear.
        Replace all suction line insulation
        Commission and start warranty period at the end of the project. All units to have the same warranty period and duration. Indicate options for extended warranty.

The scope of the project has been prepared with the assistance of Modern Niagara and PowerHouse Group. The methodology for this project has been decided, but Portage College is willing to consider other equivalent options. We are unable to shut down the building during normal working hours (0800-2100 Daily), therefore, all work will be performed while Staff and Students are in the hallways. There will be opportunity for to discuss further at the Contractor Pre-Bid Meeting.
