School Street Staircase Renovation

The Project to be performed consists of furnishing all labor, materials, tools, equipment, and transportation required to complete the Project, with a scope of work to generally include, but is not limited to, the following:

Repair and seal concrete stairs, install cast aluminum stair nosings, grout and tile.

The Project is to be performed at the following location: North Pacific Avenue, between 2017 and 2027 North Pacific Avenue.

The stairs are located in a prime North Pacific location, a short distance from the Town Clock, which connect the Santa Cruz Mission to the Downtown. Residents, tourists and employees near the Mission use the stairs on a regular basis.

The stairway, as a transportation facility, is considered an historic resource by the City of Santa Cruz, though the concrete composition of the stairs is not considered an historic resource.

Cast aluminum stairs treads have been installed on 2 stairs as a test installation and have been performing well. They may be removed or modified prior to or as part of this proposed contract.

The project is funded through the state ED IIG Parks and Paseos grant and local grant.
