2026 Virtualization and Backup System Q&A

1. Total memory requirement (1.25 TB)
The RFP specifies 1.25 TB total memory for the virtualization hardware. For a 4-node cluster, the closest
practical configurations we can provide (while keeping DIMMs in a properly balanced configuration) are
approximately 1.1 TB or 2.0 TB of total RAM.
Do you have a preference between 1.1 TB or 2.0 TB total RAM for the cluster?
We would rather be more than less so 2.0 TB would be our preference.
2. Virtualization architecture and hypervisor preference
We understand from the RFP that the district is open to diPerent software solutions and architectures as
long as requirements are met. To align our proposal with your priorities around cost, long-term solutions,
and flexibility:
Do you have a preferred architecture for this design? Specifically, 3-tier or hyper-converged?
Examples listed below.
o Example 1 : 3- tier design (separate compute & storage)
o Example 2: Hyper converged solution
Hyper converged solution would be preferred however we would not be opposed to a 3-tiered solution so
long as it meets the objectives.
3. Can bidders submit 2 options for this response? One for each of the above architectures?
Yes, that would be great.
4. Storage capacity – 96 TB requirement
The RFP states a requirement for 96 TBs for data.
Does the 96 TB refer to usable capacity before data reduction, or ePective capacity after data
reduction and compression?
96 TB refers to usable capacity before data reduction.
Approximately how much capacity is currently consumed on your existing VxRail cluster?
Approximately 48 TB.
5. Workload types and data profile
To size and design the solution appropriately (performance, capacity, data reduction expectations), it
would be helpful to understand the rough breakdown of your workloads. For example, something like:
Databases without compression or encryption: (Please provide approximate capacity)- EX: (25TB)
24.53 TB
General purpose VMs: (Please provide approximate capacity)
4.28 TB
File services (non-rich media): (Please provide approximate capacity)
14.60 TB
File services (rich media): (Please provide approximate capacity)
2.24 TB
Messaging / email: (Please provide approximate capacity)
0
Databases with some compression: (Please provide approximate capacity)
0
6. Network infrastructure
Which switch models/vendors and network speeds are currently in use for your VxRail
infrastructure?
Dell s4128
Are you also planning to refresh the switches, or should we assume the networking layer will
remain as is?
We would prefer these to be part of the upgrade proposal if possible.
7. Power
What power voltage is available in the data center for this equipment (for example, 100–120V or
200–240V circuits)?
Our PDUs have 120v and 220v
