This is a single source posting notification; there are no solicitation documents for download. Note this posting is not a Request for Bid (RFB) or Request for Proposal (RFP). Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Agency intends to begin service support agreement with Thermo-Fisher/Life Technologies.
The RapidHit ID System is a fast instrument that produces DNA profiles in as little as 90 minutes. The system integrates sample preparation and capillary electrophoresis to generate DNA profiles that are aggregated within ABI RapidLink software. It is needed by the laboratory to automate and improve the efficiency of these procedures in the DNA profiling process in rush cases. The RapidHit ID System requires periodic repairs, upgrades, and annual maintenance which require service visits and parts from Thermo-Fisher. No other vendor sells the parts or will perform the maintenance service.
Life Technologies Support / Field Services are the only services certified by Life Technologies Corporation to Repair, Qualify, Calibrate, Upgrade, Maintain and Move RapidHit ID System instrumentation.
Attempts to perform any Repairs, Calibration, Preventive Maintenances or Moves by organizations or individuals other than Life Technologies Field Services immediately and irrevocably void any Life Technologies Warranties or Life Technologies Support Agreements.
Life Technologies Corporation manufactures, calibrates, certifies and stocks all parts necessary for the Repair, Calibration and Maintenance of Life Technologies Corporation instrumentation. The specifically developed parts and as such are not available from any other source or vendor.
An internet search was completed, as well as market research with known vendors such as Government Scientific Source, VWR, Eppendorf and Promega. Life Technologies Corporation was the only organization that is certified to service and maintain the RapidHit ID System. Life Technologies Corporation manufactures the parts necessary for the planned maintenance and repairs. No other vendor for the parts or service was identified.
