Development of Promotional Examinations
(Fire Department)
TO ALL PROSPECTIVE BIDDERS:
The following questions were submitted by a potential bidder. Our answers are listed below
in red:
1. Will the County provide all facilities for the promotional testing administrations?
Yes.
2. Does the County want all the testing processes to run concurrently? Or will they all
be held at different times?
Testing Processes should run at different times but all on the same day.
3. Is the County willing to conduct development meetings for the promotional exams via
webinar/phone conference?
Yes.
4. Does any part of the testing process function as a hurdle, in that only those that pass
continue to the next portion of the testing process?
No.
5. Does the County want the vendor to present for the administration of the written
exams?
Yes.
6. How many exercises were used in the previous assessment center?
Three (3)
7. On Page 14 it states a written exam for all five ranks, but on Page 18 it states a written
exam for 3 ranks. Can you please clarify the number of written exams needed?
Five (5)
8. Does the County desire any additional assessment center/oral exercises beyond the in-
basket for Fire Battalion Chief and EMS Battalion Chief and video based tactical for
all four ranks?
No.
9. Define Fire BC?
Fire suppression and rescue Battalion Chief.
10. Define EMS BC?
Emergency Medical Services Battalion Chief.
11. Fire Lieutenant?
Fire suppression and rescue Company Officer.
12. EMS Lieutenant?
Emergency Medical Services Supervisor.
13. Does the County desire a practical skills assessment for the rank of Driver in lieu of
an oral assessment?
No.
14. Does the County have any security concerns that would require all candidates to go
through the assessment center exercises in one day?
Yes. All testing will be administered on one day.
15. Or does each candidate have to do all his/her assessment center exercises in one day?
Yes.
