Mammography Tracking Software System Solicitation Questions with Responses (in red)
9/8/2025
Could you please clarify regarding the MDS2 worksheet referenced under Factor 1 Technical of the RFQ, which asks quoters to submit the MDS2-Worksheet, VA Directive 6550 Appendix A (fillable), and Ports/Protocols/Services Template v1.6 with the quote.
We understand the intent is a cybersecurity review for solutions deployed on VA's medical device VLAN.Â
Our offered solution is software-only, deployed on VA-provided servers, accessed via web browser, and is not an FDA-regulated medical device. With that context, could you please confirm:
Is the MDS2 submission mandatory for this RFQ's software-only offering? (We see it listed in Factor 1, but want to ensure we're applying it correctly to a software-only deployment.) Yes, an MDS^2 document is required for this procurement as it provides important information relating to the risk profile of the application.
Is there a need for an Equip platform within the MIS application? No
When reviewing patient data, history, and risk assessment while reporting, will the radiologist expect to have the MIS application and the view station/PACS synced through and an EXL drop? The Mammography Tracking System must sync with the PACS application and voice recognition systems. The offeror must specify the sync mechanism that has been validated with the respective vendors.
If yes, how many workstations? 4
Do the radiologists expect a direct API with a dictation system? For example, PowerScribe? Yes, PS1.
What is the annual volume of the 4 listed locations? Estimated volume 7,500
Will the breast imaging department be providing risk assessment information to a genetic counseling team? No
Is there an expectation to add additional locations? Yes
If so, is there an estimate within the contacted terms? Optional task, no definitive plan yet.
Is there an expectation for enterprise locations? For instance, no limit? Can the offeror clarify their question? This is not an enterprise solution for all VHA mammography programs.
Will the VA NTP be tracking service act patients? Yes
Will the VA NTP be tracking patients with toxic exposure? Yes
Is there a need for customizable dashboards or built-in analytics for patient tracking or outcomes? Yes
What languages must patient letters and communication support? English is required. Additional languages, such as Spanish, would be beneficial.
Will any radiologist be reading remotely? All radiologists in NTP read remotely.
