  • Summary:Grunley Construction Company, Inc., in partnership with the College of William & Mary, is soliciting bids from trade subcontractors for the Wren Building Preservation & Repairs project. This project involves the historic renovation of the 35,727 SF, 3-level plus basement Wren Building in Williamsburg, VA. DSBSD-certified, SWaM contractors are encouraged to participate in this solicitation.

    Scope will include:
    SITEWORK: Remove and replace PVC foundation drain and tie to storm sewer. Parge and re-waterproof foundation walls. Re-grading, paving repair/replacement, and new sod.

    ENCLOSURE: Exterior stone and and brick masonry restoration. Interior brick restoration as well. Restoration of stone steps/paving and wrought iron rails. Wood window restoration. Exterior wood baluster, panel/siding and trim restoration. Re-painting.

    ROOF: 100% replacement of historic clay tile roof assembly, copper gutters and flashings.

    INTERIOR: Hazmat abatement, interior door, millwork and wood trim restoration, plaster wall and ceiling restoration, re-painting

    MEP: New rainwater conductors, lining of existing rain leaders, duct and pipe insulation replacement, lightning protection system, site lighting conduit and hand holes.

    Pre-bid RFIs are due by November 12th at Noon. Subcontractor bids are due November 25th, 2024 at noon. The project is expected to start January 6th, 2025 and finish by January 9th, 2026. Contact DanHardnock@grunley.com for more information about this solicitation.
