The United States Air Force (USAF) is seeking information to support a potential modernization contract fordevelopment, production, fielding, installation and integration (I&I), and interim contract support of a Very Low Frequency (VLF) receiver system.
The work will be to develop a form fit replacement for the legacy Common VLF Receiver Increment 1 (CVRi1) system. The replacement system will use a Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) and shall be Open Mission Systems (OMS) Tier 2 compliant. The system will integrate a modernized cryptographic device. All USAF airborne and ground-based strategic platforms and USN airborne strategic platforms are potential integration targets.
The VLF Enterprise Program Office (EPO) is also seeking feedback on the draft System Requirements Document (SRD), which will accompany RFI, and be released through classified email. SRD feedback should address respondents’ opinions of the feasibility of achieving the SRD requirements. A draft RFP is expected to be released in 2QFY25 with an official RFP release planned for shortly thereafter. The VLF EPO is also planning to host an Industry Day in early 2QFY25.
The potential VLF receiver system Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) contract will primarily focus on the development of the VLF receiver that will use the cryptographic device, the portable timing source, the ground subsystem and all related software and firmware.
Please contact Contracting officer (Ms. Renzella-Molis) and Contracting Specialist (Ms. Feeney) for more information. Contact information is listed within the posting details.
Please send RFI SIPR responses to the following emails: matthew.j.daly4.civ@mail.smil.mil and david.r.lemoine6.civ@mail.smil.mil
