Title: 60-M0087-25-CP565 - Centrifuge Replacement
Addenda: 0
Release Date: 12/18/2025
Due Date: 1/18/2026
Request for approval for Sole Source Award to Andritz Separation Inc. BDD has a current need to repair the existing centrifuge industrial solid-liquid separation equipment. The Andritz centrifuges are utilized at the BDD facility and are critical for proper solids processing and cost efficient disposal. Andritz will only support Andritz provided equipment and this equipment is only available through the manufacturer.
The Buckman Direct Diversion (BDD) facility utilizes Andritz Separation Inc. centrifuge as part of its critical solid-liquid separation process that supports the production drinking water. These centrifuges significantly reduce the volume of solids generated during treatment, enabling efficient handling and compliant disposal. The centrifuge (D7LL) unit currently in service has aged and now requires major repair to maintain operational continuity and prevent the increased risk of mechanical failure.
The rotating assembly of the centrifuge must undergo a comprehensive factory-level service, as the component experiences high mechanical loads and it central to the performance and reliability of the decanter. This service is necessary to ensure the centrifuge continues to meet process demands and regulatory reequipments tied to the facility's treatment operations.
Andritz Separation Inc. is the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for the centrifuge (D7LL model) and is the sole provider of the proprietary components, machining, balancing, and technical expertise required for the repair of this specialized equipment. No third-party service provider has access to the OEM specifications, tolerances, or certified parts needed to complete the overhaul, and maintaining standardization within BDD's centrifuges fleet further supports the need for sole source procurement.
The total cost for the required centrifuge (D7LL) rotating assembly service, including freight and applicable New Mexico Gross Receipts Tax (NMGRT), is estimated at approximately $125,000. Funding for the work will be drawn from the BDD Major Repair and Replacement Fund (MRRF).
