Description

The work includes: construction of an island upstream of Lake Pepin, in Upper Pool 4 of the Mississippi River. It is part of the Navigation and Ecosystem Sustainability Program (NESP). This will result in increased floodplain forest and fish overwintering areas. Construction is with granular fill from the channel maintenance dredging stockpile at Reads Landing; and the fine fill from access dredging, and habitat dredging as needed. Riprap will be placed along the shore to protect certain constructed features; this rock is obtained from off-site sources. Grass and willows will also be planted.
