DFAS I&T Infrastructure Services request the maintenance renewal for DFAS owned Red Hat software licenses. “Premium Support” for the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Platform provides 24-7 technical support. This maintenance is required to access patches and upgrades that may be released for these products. DoD security policies require that DFAS has the ability to apply security patches as they become available.
The Red Hat Enterprise Linux Desktop licenses are used outside the network security structure for network response time troubleshooting. Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Platform licenses are required to support the DFAS Computer Network Defense team's central security event and correlation database. The central security event and correlation database is a mandated requirement, and without this capability, the DFAS Computer Network Defense team could lose its Authority To Operate (ATO).
