Description
The solicitation (6923G223B000001) is being amended to issued Questions & Answers for RFI:
-
Sandblasting might be too risky and produce more damage to the fountain. Are chemical options (i.e. to peel all layers of paint) allowed if the outcome is to present a smooth and neat appearance? Yes, chemical options are ok as long as they pose no risk to the vegetation around the fountain, can be disposed of properly, and can give us the smooth finish.
-
As an option for re-pointing work, is there any concerns with waterproofing of the cracks as a more extensive sealant may need to be applied (b) Are we re-pointing all the cracks of the fountain or just that on the lower part of the basin as pictured in the SOW? Waterproofing is a good option, as we do not want additional water intrusion causing additional damage. My concern is changing the color of the basin as it drys, so whatever product they use the finish of the sealant should be consistent on the entire structure. I didn’t think all of the cracks needed to be repaired only those that looked a little more substantial and could allow water to get behind.
-
Who is responsible to clean & drain the fountain prior to work beginning, KTR vs GOVT? The contractor would be responsible for draining and cleaning.
