3 SCOPE OF WORK
The City of Hot Springs, Arkansas, on behalf of the Public Works Department, is accepting bids as described in the
scope of work. The scope of work is to provide materials, equipment necessary, and labor to remove and replace
treads on the West Stairway as listed in the specifications. The following specifications describe the minimum
requirements.
The equipment shall be of a new, current design production model, and available to the commercial market. The bid
shall include one copy of the manufacturer's published specification and warranty. All work must be completed in
accordance with all City, State, and Federal Guidelines to include the National Association of Architectural Metal
Manufacturers (NAAMM), OSHA, American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), American Institute for Steel
Construction (AISC), American Welding Society (AWS). The City of Hot Springs reserves the right to award the
sections that are within the budget available. The equipment shall comply with all state and federal safety
requirements. Any deviations to these specifications shall be explained.
SPECIFICATIONS
Provide all safety equipment necessary to protect the public and the workers during construction
Obtain all permits
Remove all existing concrete-filled stair treads and dispose of removed items
Grind, weld, and smooth on the stringers were tread fastened
Clean and prep existing steel stringers and landings. Epoxy paint with two (2) coats of finish
Install new diamond plate stair treads and risers. All tread and risers are to be primed and received two (2)
coats of finish epoxy paint finish
Install a barrier on the top floor to prevent water from draining on the stairwell
Clean and paint existing handrails with two (2) coats of epoxy paint finish
Construction clean up
All bidders may request a walk-through of the project at 128 Exchange Street, Hot Springs, Arkansas, with the
Public Works Department, Ron Sievwright. Bidders can contact Ron Sievwright at 501-321-6901.
