Broadway Vault Masonry Walls and Infill

Scope of Services: As part of the upcoming reconstruction of Broadway Avenue (IL-25) in Downtown Aurora, the City plans to infill the remaining under-sidewalk utility vaults between Benton and New York Streets. This infilling includes the construction of approximately 5,200 SF of masonry walls below the front face of the buildings followed by placement of Controlled Low Strength Material (CLSM) in thirty-four (34) of these vaults.

The walls shall be constructed in accordance with the locations, Construction Details, and Special Provisions presented in the Project Plans by HR Green, which are included with this RFB. An alternate price may also be provided to construct reinforced concrete walls (in accordance with the Special Provisions) in lieu of masonry walls, but is not required as part of this bid submittal.

The City is also requesting an alternate price to install a complete “Silva Cell” (or equivalent) soil cell system inside a vault in lieu of infilling with CLSM.

Note that the vaults located between New York and Galena are to be completed first as described in the Special Provision for Completion Date included with this RFB.
