Design and fabrication of a giant pollinator exhibit at the 2024 Eco Experience

The State of Minnesota, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) intends to enter into an agreement with Marc Scamp to design, fabricate, install, test/troubleshoot, and maintain an educational-artistic piece inside the Eco Experience building to be in operation during the 2024 MN State Fair, August 22-September 2. The piece is to be a giant, interactive Monarch butterfly. Mounted from the ceiling, visitors will be able to make the wings flap by pulling a rope from below.

This is deemed a single source purchase because the contractor/artist has previously designed, prototyped, tested and installed a similar display at the Mall of America. The contractor/artist owns the plans and has completed all engineering to assure reliable, safe, and secure operation during the period it will be on public display.
