RE-ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS

A bid opening was held on April 9, 2024, at 3:00 pm EST. Insufficient bids were received. The Town of Carrboro procedures require three bids; therefore, bids were not opened. The project is being readvertised and rebid.

Sealed proposals will be received by Town of Carrboro until 3:00 P.M., April 17, 2024, address to ATT: Bret Greene, Finance Director, Town of Carrboro, 100 Public Works Dr., Carrboro, NC 27510, for the furnishing of labor, material and equipment for the Century Center Chiller Replacement and DDC Controls Upgrade. At the same time and place, the bids will be publicly opened and read.

Bids must be sealed and clearly labeled: “Sealed Bid: Century Center Chiller Replacement and DDC Controls Upgrade” with the name of the Bidder and the North Carolina State Contractor's Registration Number, and the names of the first-tier subcontractors (general, mechanical, and electrical)

The scope of work includes:

  • Relocate and install air cooled chiller that was ordered, paid for, and received by the owner.
  • Demolish select existing mechanical equipment and provide new pumps, variable speed drive, etc.
  • Demolish existing DDC controls and provide new BACnet IP DDC controls.
  • 35 existing VAV boxes with hot water coils to remain and have their controls replaced.
  • Electrical revisions required to support the mechanical changes.

A pre-bid meeting was held on site for all interested bidders on March 12, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. To be considered responsive and responsible bidders, the prime contractor and first tier subcontractors (general, mechanical and electrical) shall have attended either the pre-bid conference or a site visit at a later date scheduled by the Owner, or both. Attendance must be documented by the Engineers or the Owner. Without attending one of these, the contractor’s bid will not be accepted.

An open public meeting was held in conjunction with the pre-bid conference to identify preferred brand alternates and their performance standards pertinent to this project. In accordance with GS133-3, Section 64. (C) procedures the following preferred brand items are being considered as Alternates by the owner for this project:

A. Owner Preferred Alternate No. OP-M1: Provide DDC controls by Honeywell Building Technologies, subject to compliance with the requirements of the specifications. A copy of pertinent sections of the performance standards may be obtained by contacting the designer at the address or phone number noted herein.

The Town of Carrboro reserves the unqualified right to waive informalities and reject any and all proposals.
