REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL - INFORMAL BID
Construction of a conduit and handhold system along portions of N. Greensboro St., S. Greensboro St., E. Main St. and Roberson St.
The Town is seeking proposals from qualified firms for the construction of a conduit and handhold system along portions of N. Greensboro St., S. Greensboro Street, E. Main St. and Roberson Street in Carrboro, NC. The selected firm will be responsible for supplying all conduit, conduit couplers, handholes, MULETAPE ™ type pull line, tracer wire, duct plugs and any supplies plus the personnel and machinery required to construct a continuous conduit (consisting of two 2” SDR 11 HDPE conduits) and handhold system along portions of N. Greensboro St., S. Greensboro St., E. Main St. and Roberson St. including two lateral runs to specified buildings in Carrboro, NC for the purpose of holding fiber optic cabling. Fiber optic cabling will not be installed or supplied for this project. Please see Exhibit 1-a and 1-b for general overview of project.
North Carolina statutes provide a flexible methodology for municipalities to receive bids without the formal bid process required by GS 143-128.2 and GS 143-129. For projects over $500,000, the state requires a formal bid process. The Town of Carrboro has elected to be more restrictive than the state statutes and requires a formal bid process for projects costing $300,000 or more. For informal bid projects, the Town invites individual businesses to submit bids for the project.

. A Bidder will receive an email response when a bid has been received. It is the sole responsibility of the Bidder to ensure that their bid reaches the Issuing Department by the designated date and hour indicated above. A site visit is highly recommended (before sending a bid).
An onsite meeting to answer any questions relating to this project (and walk-through) will be held at 2:00 PM (EST) Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 100 N. Greensboro St. (we will start/meet at the parking lot on the backside of the Carrboro Century Center) in Carrboro, NC.
