REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS
ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN SERVICES FOR
DURHAM COUNTY SANTEE ROAD PARK
RFQ No. 24-035
The County of Durham, North Carolina requests letters of interest and statements of qualifications
from individuals or firms to provide Architectural Design Services for the Durham County Santee
Road Park. This project includes the development of a large park on existing, undeveloped land
located at 600 Santee Road in eastern Durham County near Falls Lake (REID 193815). The 268-acre
parcel is owned by Durham County and managed by the Durham County Open Space Program. This
parcel was acquired to protect water quality, wildlife habitat, and provide opportunities for low-
impact recreation and environmental education.
The property purchase was funded in part by the City of Raleigh’s Watershed Protection Program
and includes a conservation agreement that restricts development on much of the property. The
Open Space Program intends to establish a public park on this property and seeks a design team to
lead the project through its lifespan. This will include feasibility studies and community and
stakeholder engagement (including partnership opportunities with other agencies) through
construction administration.
