Description

The City of Rochester, through its Architectural Services division, is soliciting proposals from qualified architectural and engineering firms or teams to provide architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and controls design services for the replacement of the hockey rink ice plant at the Blue Cross Arena at 100 Exchange Boulevard, Rochester NY 14614.

The scope will include investigations, design, bid and construction administration services. Provide services for all phases of scoping, design, bid documents and construction oversight for the design and replacement of the entire ice sheet chiller plant at the Blue Cross Arena.

The current chiller plant was installed in the mid 1990’s and is past its useful life. It also utilizes R22 refrigerant, production and import of which was banned in 2010 by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). It is the intent of the City of Rochester to have the ice plant replaced with a modern system design that uses a current refrigerant. Options for different style chillers (example: modular), feasibility of ice harvesting to supplement building cooling, compatibility of existing room size and provisions for adding the new chiller to a future expanded back-up generator will be explored as part of the design process.

The RFP includes a draft scope of services, proposal requirements, M/WBE participation, and Federal American Rescue Plan Act (“ARPA”) and City provisions.

Pre-Proposal Meeting

A pre-proposal meeting for interested consultants will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at the Blue Cross Arena at 100 Exchange Boulevard, Rochester NY 14614. Meet at employee entrance at middle of east-facing façade.

RFP Schedule and Delivery Information

Submit five (5) copies and one (1) electronic copy of your proposal by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2022 to:
