SCOPE OF WORK
I. Project Overview:
Parenting Inside Out® (PIO) program is an evidence-based parenting skills
training program developed for criminal justice involved parents. There are three
versions to this program that vary in length and number of activities they contain;
the prison version is appropriate for both incarcerated mothers and incarcerated
fathers who are parenting from prison. The community version is appropriate for
parents on parole or probation or parents with a history of substance abuse or
involvement with the child welfare system. The program emphasizes trauma-
informed practices, building healthy attachments, and providing parents with the
tools they need to break the cycle of intergenerational trauma.
The PIO curriculum: Prison, Jail, and Community. Each version teaches parents a way of
navigating life that uses healthy, pro-social skills to interact with children, partners, co-
parents, officials, friends, and family. Participants learn to celebrate the uniqueness of
each person and invite others into caring, respectful relationships. With PIO training,
criminal-justice-involved adults can become better parents and role models in their
children’s lives.
II. High Level Requirements:
1. Become a certified PIO coach.
2. Outcome Oriented
3. Learner Centered
4. Have the ability to use social learning theory to teach cooperation and problem-
solving in the context of learning parenting skills.
5. Have the ability to help Parents promote healthy child adjustments, prevent child
problem behavior and build resilience in children.
III. Scope of Work:
The Selected vendor will be responsible for delivering the Parenting Inside Out program
curriculum which includes but is not limited to, the following components:
1.) Program Adaptation: Customize the program content to suit the needs of our target
population and align with local cultural contexts and values.
2.) Program Implementation: Facilitate the delivery of the program through workshops
or group sessions. This includes providing necessary materials, resources, and
tools to participants.
3.) Training and support: Train and supervise facilitators who will deliver the program.
Provide ongoing support and consultation to facilitators to ensure program fidelity
and participant engagement.
