Greater Minnesota Transit Plan

Brief description: MnDOT’s Office of Transit and Active Transportation (OTAT) requests proposals for the developing the Greater Minnesota Transit Plan (GMTP). The GMTP will be a policy-based plan with planning and policy recommendations intended to set forth a practical vision of how to maintain and improve transit service in Greater Minnesota. OTAT will accomplish this by actively coordinating with rural and urban transit providers, local governments, and other key stakeholders. This plan will provide policy direction that reflects recent trends and guides priorities for transit service and investments in Greater Minnesota, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021. The plan will also have clear and understandable metrics to evaluate strategies for policy implementation. This plan will provide agency staff, transit partners, policymakers, elected officials, and the public with updated information regarding the direction and strategies that impact projects and the future of transit. The plan aims to develop policies and recommendations that apply to both rural and urban systems, with specific recommendations and implementation steps for each type of system.
