Notes:
We highly recommend online submission of responses. This expedites the
process and reduces errors for both buyer and supplier.
Contract Award: It is the intent of the Iowa DOT to award the contract to the
responsible contractor whose submitted quote is the most advantageous to the Iowa
DOT, cost and other factors considered. Other factors include, but are not limited to:
meeting or exceeding mandatory requirements, proposed staffing, and meeting
required time schedule. Other factors may also include a comprehensive review of
bidders past work performance, and work capacity.
Overview: The Iowa DOT is seeking competitive bids for an Iowa licensed
electrical contractor to provide all materials, labor and equipment necessary for
removal and replacement of the existing generator at the IDOT Tipton Maintenance
Facility as per plans/specifications attached in this solicitation. Contractor to de-
energize system and disconnect from foundations for removal and salvage by IDOT
personnel.
IDOT will handle and use existing propane, contractor to reconnect to existing
propane only.
Work to be performed:
M-TH 6:00 am - 3:30 pm CT
Fri 6:00 am - 10:00 am CT
Contractor to give 24-hour notice and coordinate outages with IDOT.

Training: Contractor will provide training and demonstration for exercising
equipment and maintenance (see Attribute #13).

Estimated Project Start Date: May 15, 2024 (Start Date shall be coordinated
with the IDOT Project Manager)
Estimated Project Completion Date: October 2, 2024 or as determined by the
Construction Manager at the pre-construction meeting. (Contractor to indicate any
material lead time issues that may prevent them from meeting this timeline
and provide guidance for recommended completion date based on material

DOT is seeking an Iowa licensed electrician for completion of this project.
Inspections: Electrical inspections through the State Electrical Board required.
This is project is exempt from state sales tax.
Questions: Until the contract is awarded the sole point of contact for this project is
Teri Schulz @ teri.schulz@iowadot.us (see bid contact information). Any questions
related to this project are to be submitted to Teri Schulz in writing preferably through
the IONwave Bid system. Questions must be submitted on or before April 21,
2024 at 10:00 pm CT.
Site Visit: In the event a contractor wishes to set up a site visit please contact Teri
Schulz via email at teri.schulz@iowadot.us. with a date and time of when you want a
site visit. Contractors will be required to bring their own equipment needed for the
site visit.
Recommended Pre-bid Meeting is set up for Contractors to join in via the
Microsoft teams link or you can call the phone number and enter the conference ID

questions you have on the project manual and plans.
