Core Campus Dining Hall, beside Gressette Hall Entry, 511 Fort Hill Street, Clemson SC 29634
No separate appointments will be made. A non-mandatory but highly encouraged site visit is scheduled at the date and time indicated herein to allow offerors to view select locations. Measurements, photos and other visual data may be gathered to aid in proposal accuracy. Offerors must be prepared for the possibility of extensive walking, navigating stairs, ladders, low hung ceilings, duct work, etc . Parking is VERY LIMITED in this area of campus. Interested parties are encouraged to arrive early and carpool when possible. Offerors should visit the Clemson University Parking Services page for permit requirements. Fees may be required for parking.

The following are questions asked by Offerors along with the response by Clemson University.
Any changes to the original scope reflected in these answers will take precedence over any
information in the original Bid solicitation. Any information not addressed specifically in this
amendment will remain as stated in the original Bid solicitation.
SB #180971578 Dining Services Exhaust Systems Cleaning
Addendum #3: Questions and Answers
1. Question: Will cleaning frequencies of the hoods listed in the appendix change due to
cleanliness of hoods? (i.e. The hood in “Core Campus Stripes Grill” is listed as 3
cleanings per year, but during walkthrough on 2/29/24 grease and debris has already
built up since cleaning performed in January.) Photos depicting this issue were taken
during walkthrough.
ANSWER: Clemson reserves the right to add additional cleanings throughout the year
as needed.
2. Question: Does the Exhaust Hood in “Which Wich” need to be included on the scope /
appendix?
ANSWER: No, this hood is ventless.
3. Question: Should the athletics buildings be included in the Bid / Appendix? Is there
any estimate to frequencies? Is cleaning the exhaust/duct systems in scope as the
count is not listed?
ANSWER: Please see the revised Bidding Schedule and Scope of Work issued with this
Addendum. All available information has been added to these documents.
4. Question: Will “exhaust system” references be required as well as hood cleaning
references listen in scope (II. Instructions to Offerors, Section 4)?
ANSWER: This requirement has been deleted.
5. Question: Will “exhaust system” cleaning (III. Scope of Work, Sections 1 & 2) be held
to the minimum standard of NADCA, the National Air Duct Cleaners Association?
ANSWER: No. NADCA seems to deal with HVAC duct cleaning. Since this is the
cleaning of food service exhaust hoods, NFPA 96 regulations should be followed.

6. Question: Will NADCA Certified ASCS (Air Systems Cleaning Specialists) be required to
be on site during cleaning of Trunks / Exhausts?
ANSWER: No
7. Question: Will the contractor be able to add access points for cleaning exhaust system
ducts per the NADCA Standard?
ANSWER: Possibly. There are most likely areas of duct that are not accessible from
the exterior of the duct work. If this work is required it will be determined as is
mutually agreeable between Clemson University and the contractor.
8. Question: Will the frequency of cleaning vary based on buildup / observations upon
inspections or would it follow the hood cleaning frequency?
ANSWER: The cleaning frequency may vary in some locations. However, scheduled
cleanings will follow the frequency noted in the Bidding Schedule unless CU
or the Contractor finds a hood with excessive buildup. Clemson University will
determine if additional cleanings are required and work with the Contractor to provide
additional cleanings as is mutually agreeable.
9. Question: Systems that haven’t been cleaned in 5+ years sometimes have uncleanable
buildup of grease and other contaminants that require removal of duct work. If this is
found in the “exhaust systems” at Clemson, how will this affect the scope?
ANSWER: Ductwork removal will not be considered as part of this scope. Should the
Contractor discover this particular issue or any other issues of concern during the
course of their normal work they should report their finding to the Clemson University
designee.
10. Question: Will cleaning associated duct work of the “Core Campus Dish Room” be
included in the scope / appendix?
ANSWER: Yes. See the updated Bidding Schedule included in Addendum 3.
11. Question: Does Clemson have accurate drawings that outline the associated trunk
lines for each hood / exhaust system?
ANSWER: Yes. See location drawings included in this Addendum. These documents
are located in the online bidding system under the Attachments tab. Drawings for
Athletic locations are not available.
12. Question: Should the Hood Cleaning and Duct Cleaning be separated into two
different bids?
ANSWER: No.
