Notes	Iowa State University of Science and Technology (ISU) is soliciting information from qualified contractors to provide 2, new or used, plot combine. Contractors can bid a new unit and used unit, 2 used units or 2 new units. The unit(s) current model, under standard production by the manufacturer and be furnished complete with standard equipment and accessories as listed in the manufacture’s printed literature, plus the items below. All equipment and options must be factory installed, if available. Used units must be less than 500 hours, 5 years old and be professionally serviced prior to delivery with all common wear parts replaced . A company can bid multiple units for evaluation. Contractors should read all materials carefully and note the due date. Contractors must submit all questions in the "Questions" tab related to this bid opportunity. Bid responses will ONLY be accepted online via ISUBid. Please allow adequate time to review and submit your response prior to the deadline.

Question	Whom do we contact to schedule an on site demo, as requested in the scope of work?
Answer	If ISU were to ask for a demonstration of the unit being bid, it will be set up through Procurement Services.

Question	Specification: "Hydraulic folding of grain tank allowing for visible inspection from the ground or something similar." Question: Is a camera system in the grain tank acceptable for visual inspection without climbing on top of the machine and a bottom flap operated from the ground for complete cleaning?
Answer	ISU prefers to have a hydraulic folding grain tank. ISU has found that cameras can't see all surface areas of the tank. In the past grain has sometimes stuck to the side and the hydraulic holding tank allows for easy access to view and clean the area.

Question	Specification: "3 surface, removeable, shaker sieves, top adjustable, bottom two can be round holes sieves (approx. 10 and 20 mm holes) or something similar." Question: The performance of a combine cleaning system can not be reduced to the amount of surfaces on the shaker. Many other parameters determine if a combine cleans well. Is a cleaning system with a 2-surface-shaker that produces clean samples acceptable?
Answer	ISU's preference is a 3 surface shaker. In our experience, between a 2 surface shaker and a 3 surface shaker with a winnowing blower, a 3 surface shaker has provided cleaner samples.

Question	Specification: "Variable speed in‐cab controlled winnowing blower" Question: Is a variable speed axial flow blower which produces even cleaner samples like machines with traditional winnowing blowers acceptable?
Answer	ISU's preference would be the winnowing blower. If you can provide data showing that a variable speed axial flow blower can provide cleaner samples, please attach that information under the Response Attachments tab and ISU will review it when evaluating.

Question	2. The bid spec is asking for the following: Remote foot switch and joystick switches for electronic control of weight hopper or something comparable. Can you clarify what the intention of the foot switch is? Do you want it to cycle the whole system, open just the hopper, or open the sample door
Answer	ISU's intent is that the foot switch would cycle the entire system. At times the operators hands are tagging the bag and cannot hit the joystick.

Question	1. What crop(s) will be harvested with these 2 machines?
Answer	The main crop would be soybeans, in addition ISU will also be harvesting mung bean, field pea, erd bean, and millet.
