Description

ADDITIONAL CONTRACTORS RFIs Respecting the government s response to question #4 in Amendment 4, we request the following. In order to provide the shop drawings that are being requested, we will require a set of the as-built drawings of the existing system. These as-builts we will be needed during the bid proposal stage in order to quantify the level of effort the contractor is to include in our bids. Please provide the as-built drawings of the existing system. The VA does not have As-built shop drawings to provide at this time, and no future time frame for it to be made available. Respecting the government s response to question #8 in Amendment 4, the government responded that the specifications for the existing vinyl wall guard product will be provided. However, this information is needed during the estimate phase in order to obtain a material quote from the manufacturer. Please provide the specifications for the existing product. The VA will provide specifications for the existing vinyl wall guard product. (Refer to the Handrail submittals document attached) Respecting the government s response to question #22 in Amendment 4, what is the height of the corner guards to be provided? Mount corner guard 4 A.F.F. 48 to top o corner guard A.F.F.. Drawing MG102 and MG202 requires the existing medical gas alarm panel to be removed, stored for reinstallation. The permanent location is shown on drawing MG202 and is located on the new wall partition to be installed. In order to avoid having to relocate it twice due to the phasing requirements, can the alarm panel be relocated to an existing wall versus be located on the new wall partition? The alarm panel must remain functional throughout construction as the Dialysis area will remain operational throughout construction. The panel must be relocated twice, or a temporary panel must be provided within the Phase 1 dialysis area to meet this requirement. Regarding Sheet T300, details 1, 2, and 3 and the notes leaves the contractor believing that the existing frames (telecom racks) and patch panels will be replaced with new components and will be positioned in a new location as described in detail 1. What is the government plan to maintain network user connectivity while the contractor disconnects every existing cable from its patch panel position, for migration to the new rack location? Replace existing racks with new racks in TR. Field coordinate to float existing patch panels to maintain connectivity on any cables that are needed during this time. Is it the governments intent to have the contractor re-route the existing network cabling through the new conduits being installed as described in detail #2? Existing conduits can be maintained for existing cables that are to be kept in service. Sleeve/conduits standards should be met for firestop, etc. What if some of the existing cabling isn t long enough to reach the new rack locations? Document and report cables that are not long enough to be rerouted. Installation of new cables will need to take place on a case-by-case basis.
