BRIDGE REPAIR - SLATE MINE ROAD AT PINE LOG CREEK
This rebid is due to an irregularity in the original bid, as a bid was inadvertently not considered.
Additionally, the engineer has requested the inclusion of the "Quantity" column in the bid form
for unit prices and cost extensions. We have also added the Bond Requirements.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Gordon County Board of Commissioners is accepting sealed written bids from
qualified contractors for the bridge repair on Slate Mine Road at Pine Log Creek. This
project consists of repairing concrete by locating existing reinforcing steel and
miscellaneous concrete embedments; saw cutting concrete; removing deteriorated
concrete and/or existing patch material; and installing concrete patch material. Work also
includes bridge painting (cleaning and repainting beams), adding rip-rap as directed,
cleaning and resealing deck joints, and realigning bearings/repairing anchor bolts. All
work must be performed in accordance with specifications, plans, and engineering
directions.
The successful bidder for this contract must agree to commence work within 30 calendar
days of issuance of Notice to Proceed from the County and to fully complete all work no
later than 180 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed.
The terms and time of payments will be in accordance with Section 109 of the "Georgia
Department of Transportation Standard Specifications" 2001 Edition.

The Gordon County Board of Commissioners reserves the right to accept or reject any or
all bids received and to waive informalities and to re-advertise.
PRE-BID MEETING
A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held on Monday August 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
onsite at Slate Mine Bridge Road. Attendance is required for all prospective bidders,
unless you attended the previous meeting on May 20, 2026. The original questions
submitted for the original bid are included as addenda.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Any questions following the pre-bid meeting must be submitted no later than August 14,
2026, by 2:00 p.m. Bids must be delivered to the Gordon County Purchasing Department
at 201 N. Wall Street, Calhoun, GA 30701, no later than 3:00 p.m. on Thursday,
September 3, 2026. Your sealed bid must be clearly marked "Sealed Bid - Slate Mine
Road Bridge Replacement."
Bidders must submit 4 printed copies and 1 USB drive.
The bid package must include at a minimum:
Completed bid form and an authorized signature.
A statement of the bidder's qualifications (form provided by the county).
A copy of the contractor's Certificate of Qualifications issued by the Georgia
Department of Transportation.

Written oath stating the contractor has not restricted competitive bidding
(Non-Collusion Affidavit form provided by the county).
The E-Verify affidavit must be submitted in an envelope and attached on the
outside of the bid, addressed to: Charmon VanDyke, Purchasing Manager,
"Sealed Bid - Slate Mine Bridge" 201 North Wall Street, Calhoun, GA 30701.
Failure to submit this affidavit will result in the bid not being
considered(O.C.G.A. 13-10-91).
A completed and signed W-9 form.
BONDING REQUIREMENTS
Bid Bond: 5% of the total bid (O.C.G.A. 32-4-67), duly executed by the bidder
and a surety company authorized in Georgia and listed on the latest U.S. Treasury
Circular 570. Bid bonds for unsuccessful bidders will be returned once a contract
award decision has been made.
Performance Bond: 100% of the bid amount, executed by the contractor and a
corporate bonding company licensed in Georgia and named on the current list of
"Surety Companies Acceptable on Federal Bonds".
Payment Bond: 100% of the bid amount, executed by the contractor and a
corporate bonding company licensed in Georgia and named on the current list of
"Surety Companies Acceptable on Federal Bonds." Note: A payment bond shall
be required for all public works construction contracts with an estimated contract
amount greater than $100,000.00.
Bridge Bond: (O.C.G.A 32-4-70) A specialized bond covering the structural
integrity and warranty of the Slate Mine Road bridge repairs, requiring the
contractor to keep the bridge in good condition for a period of not less than 7
years.
POST-AWARD REQUIREMENTS
The successful bidder must submit the following items within ten calendar days of
written notification of the bid award:
Proof of workers' compensation insurance in accordance with state law.
Provide proof of general liability insurance in the amount of at least $500,000,
naming the Gordon County Board of Commissioners as additional insured.
Proof of automobile liability insurance in the amount of at least $500,000.
Written certification that the contractor operates a drug-free workplace in
accordance with O.C.G.A. 50-24-1 through 50-24-6 (form provided by county).
Proof of a valid and current business license from the city/county where the
business is located or a business license from Gordon County.
A performance bond in the amount of the bid. The performance bond shall be
executed by the contractor and a corporate bonding company licensed to transact
business in Georgia and named on the current list of "Surety Companies
Acceptable on Federal Bonds" as published in the Treasury Department Circular
Number 570. If at any time a surety on any such bond is declared bankrupt or
loses its rights to do business in Georgia or is removed from the list of surety
companies accepted on federal bonds, the contractor shall, within 10 days, notify

the owner and shall substitute an acceptable bond in such form and sum and
signed by such other surety as may be satisfactory to the county.
A payment bond in the amount of the bid. The payment bond shall be executed by
the contractor and a corporate bonding company licensed to transact business in
Georgia and named on the current list of "Surety Companies Acceptable on
Federal Bonds" as published in the Treasury Department Circular Number 570. If
at any time a surety on any such bond is declared bankrupt or loses its rights to do
business in Georgia or is removed from the list of surety companies accepted on
federal bonds, the contractor shall, within 10 days, notify the owner and shall
substitute an acceptable bond in such form and sum and signed by such other
surety as may be satisfactory to the county.
